ABOUT AFITAThe Asian Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture (AFITA) was formed on January 24, 1998 in Wakayama city, Japan. AFITA is an autonomous, non-political, non-governmental, non-profit making Association. The members of AFITA are · Japanese Society of Agricultural Informatics. · Korean Society for Agricultural Information. · Chinese Society of Agricultural Information. · Thai Agricultural Information Network. · Indian Society of Agricultural Information Technology (INSAIT). · Indonesian Society for Agricultural Information. The Institutional associate members are · Malaysia Agriculture Research and Development Institute. · Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development. · Informatics Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam. · Agriculture land use and GIS, Timor-Leste There are also individual associate members from Bangladesh, Mongolia, Pakistan, Lao PDR, and Bhutan. The first AFITA conference was held in Japan, in 1998. The second, third and fourth AFITA conferences were held in Korea, China and Thailand during the years 2000, 2002 and 2004, respectively. |
